31 Week Update!

Oh hey, remember me?  It's been a while... again.  This time I will use Christmas as an excuse, and we had a wonderful holiday break.

Nick and I traveled south on our usual Christmas tour of Texas, and spent time with both sets of parents and siblings, and picked up our new Sequoia!  Baby Dillon will be so safe, and we can fit all of our stuff, a baby, and two dogs in one vehicle!

We've also been hard at work preparing the nursery, although at this point we've mostly cleaned out the room and installed a closet system that made the most of the limited space we have to store baby gear.  (Aren't 1960s floor plans the best?  Who needs large closets?)  Nick has been sanding down the dresser, and we hope to have the room mostly assembled in the next 3 weeks.

I've also spent the past month getting huge.  I've heard from many moms that there's a point where your belly "pops" and Baby D and I reached that point about 10 days ago.  one morning I woke up and he was way more obvious than he was the night before.  You can also tell in the weekly photos, and it's evident by the kicks that he is much bigger now (more than 3 pounds!)

On that note, here's a 31 week progress report:

How far along? 31 weeks (no photo yet)

Total weight gain/loss:  About 18 pounds, which suddenly feels like a lot even though I'm right on track.  I gained a pound more than I wanted to in December, so I'm trying to make good food choices in January like the rest of America.  It's very strange to see your body change so quickly, and not feel like yourself as you struggle to get up from the couch or finish 30 minutes of cardio that used to be a breeze at the gym.  I'm not a fan, but every little kick reminds me that it will be ok.

Sleep:  I am officially getting uncomfortable.  I've started sleeping with a body pillow, since I suck at laying on my left side (no idea why I'm perfectly fine on my right side, but not the other), but am lucky to not have to wake up for bathroom trips.

Best moment this week: On Tuesday I kept getting jabbed in the top part of my stomach, so I pushed back and felt what I think was a tiny little foot.

Movement:  Yes, lots.  See above.

Symptoms:  I am tired, and can tell that my rib cage has expanded, which is not particularly comfortable.

Symptoms I DON'T have:  The heartburn seems to have subsided as of late, which is great.

Food cravings:  I really like root beer right now.  A&W Ten is delicious!

Food aversions:  Still not loving green beans, even though they're usually a favorite.  Hopefully I'll get my taste buds back soon!

Gender:  Boy!

Labor Signs:  No, thank goodness

Belly Button in or out?  In, but getting a little wider and hollowed out.  I'm carrying the baby pretty low, so it may pop out before he arrives!

What I miss:  Sleeping on my stomach, drinking a big glass of wine with Nick, my regular jeans

What I am looking forward to:  Not having a big belly anymore, holding Baby D, and not working (even though it will be way harder to be home with a newborn)

Weekly Wisdom:  On Friday, while going on about how working out gives me pretty sharp round ligament pain and/or Braxton Hicks contractions, my doctor reminded me that I am 30 weeks pregnant and that it's ok to take it easy.
