35 Weeks + The Home Stretch!

It just occurred to me (when I was looking for my Amazon.com registry discount code) that we only have 35 days until my due date.  Holy cow, that is not much time!  I hit the 35 week mark today, and it's hard to believe that the squirmy little guy in my belly now weighs more than 5 pounds and is about 18 inches long!

However, all that growth has meant that pregnancy is officially not fun anymore.  I have one pair of jeans that fits me, and I wear a lot of maternity leggings along with a necklace containing my wedding rings that only fit 2 or 3 days per week.  We've also not made nearly as much progress on the nursery as I feel that we should have, and if one more person asks me about it, I might cry.  (So please don't ask me about it)

Speaking of crying, I can go from normal to the verge of tears in about 10 seconds.  Here are some reasons why I teared up this week:
  • Charlie is old and Baby Dillon probably won't remember him
  • Roadkill is sad
  • I love Charlie and Maggie a whole lot
  • Nick does so much for us and I love him too
  • I have too much to do at work
  • I don't know much about newborns and everything I read is scary
  • That Budweiser commercial with the horse and puppy was pretty heartwarming

However, this past week was pretty amazing because we had two wonderful baby showers!  One was thrown by my sweet coworkers, and the other by my aunts and sister in law in Houston.  Baby Dillon got so many generous gifts, and we are very blessed indeed.

Nick's mom made this diaper trike and it's the cutest thing ever! (That monkey was Nick's)

And now, the update:

How far along? 35 weeks (no photo yet)

Total weight gain/loss:  About 25 pounds, but the last 5 arrived in just 10 days in the form of fluid and it is NOT.FUN.

Sleep:  I don't sleep as well anymore, and there's lots of changing position and trying to get comfortable (and waking Nick up)

Best moment this week:  Seeing so many people excited to welcome Baby Dillon

Movement:  Still kicking!

Symptoms:  Swollen hands, swollen feet, lots of ligament pain, sore muscles, heartburn...

Symptoms I DON'T have:  There could be more?

Food cravings:  I still like root beer and refrigerated clementines.  And now chocolate!

Food aversions:  Someone was heating up fish at work today and I almost threw up.

Gender:  Boy!

Labor Signs:  No, thank goodness

Belly Button in or out?  Still in!

What I miss:  Sleeping on my stomach, my clothes, not being sore all the time

What I am looking forward to:  Not being pregnant!

Weekly Wisdom: People on the internet really like sharing stories about how they overcame the horror of postpartum recovery and newborn care, but the majority of people seem to have no trouble and just keep it to themselves.  I need to remember that!
